Workcube ERP, scheduling and shipment control for furniture makers

Version 1.0 — Last updated:

What should ERP solve in furniture manufacturing? Product variety multiplied by colour, fabric and size needs correct bills of materials, and work orders, material requirements, shipments and dealer collections must meet in one record. Turkey-based Gramoni implements Workcube ERP for furniture makers and connects scheduling, shipments and banking to it with its own add-ons.

Furniture is one of the manufacturing sectors where product variety grows fastest. The same sofa or wardrobe turns into dozens of different products through colour, fabric, size and accessories. Typical ERP problems in this sector:

  • Variants and bills of materials. Each variant needs its own materials, labour and cost; when the BOM is incomplete, material requirements and cost come out wrong.
  • Make-to-order production. Make-to-stock and make-to-order run side by side; if the link between a work order and its sales order is lost, so is the delivery date.
  • Panels and scrap. Panel cutting and upholstery scrap is a large part of cost; when actual consumption is not recorded, cost stays an estimate.
  • Shipment and assembly. One order often leaves in several packages; a shipment with a missing package is discovered on assembly day.
  • Dealer network. When dealer orders, dealer stock and dealer collections are kept in different places, cash planning turns into guesswork.

Industry snapshot

According to the Turkish Ministry of Trade's 2026 Furniture Sector Report, most of the sector consists of small and medium-sized enterprises, alongside 56 large-scale factories. Production is concentrated in Istanbul, Ankara, İnegöl (Bursa), Kayseri, İzmir and Adana. The same report puts furniture exports at about USD 4.6 billion as of 2025.

Furniture manufacturing falls in the low-technology group of Eurostat's technology classification. According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), 54.4% of Turkish manufacturing enterprises were in low-technology activities in 2025, accounting for 47.9% of manufacturing employment (provisional results).

Because SMEs carry the sector, ERP use depends on size. According to TÜİK, 23.6% of Turkish enterprises with 10–49 employees used ERP software in 2025, against 76.5% of those with 250 or more.

How does a Workcube project run?

In this sector, master data usually decides how an ERP project goes. If product cards, variants and BOMs are incomplete or inconsistent, material requirements and cost are wrong from day one.

Workcube's implementation methodology has eight phases, each with a written output. In Selection, a needs analysis and a POC workshop are held, and scope, budget and timeline are put in writing. In Design, processes are analysed, workflow diagrams and a fit-gap analysis are prepared, and the conceptual design is approved. In Configuration, master data is migrated; Gramoni provides a migration template for each data type and the company fills in its own data. In Go-live and training, users are trained and the company goes live in stages; Support and Sustainment follow.

What it does not do

WorkPlanner for Workcube does not do demand forecasting or order promising, and does not write work orders or purchase requests back to Workcube. WAMS Logistics does not create delivery notes or invoices and does not integrate with carriers. All products are Workcube add-ons and are not suitable for companies that do not use Workcube.

Frequently asked questions

What is the hardest part of ERP in furniture manufacturing?

Product variety. One model becomes dozens of variants through colour, fabric, size and accessories; if each variant's bill of materials and cost are not defined correctly, material requirements, stock and cost stop agreeing. Make-to-order production, a dealer network and delivery planning come on top.

Can we schedule furniture production inside Workcube?

WorkPlanner for Workcube opens BOMs, routings, machines and working calendars to Novalab's scheduling engine, and the schedule comes back to Workcube as work orders, material requirements and a Gantt chart. A pre-check lists missing data and the screen where it can be fixed. It does not do demand forecasting or order promising.

How do we check shipments?

With WAMS Logistics, a shipment is checked on a barcode device in the order EAN, shelf location, lot and quantity; allocation-based picking, stock counts and warehouse transfers are done on the device too. Every movement is written to Workcube's stock records. Delivery-note creation and carrier integration are outside its scope.

Can we follow dealer collections in Workcube?

Wodiba's direct debit line connects the direct debit system (DBS) to Workcube; there are 5 providers today, 4 of them on screen. The account-statement line brings bank transactions in several times a day and creates records and accounting vouchers for 18 transaction types.
