Workcube ERP for chemicals and pharmaceuticals

Version 1.0 — Last updated:

What should ERP solve in chemicals and pharmaceuticals? Recipe-based production, batches and expiry dates, filling and packaging lines, and warehouse movements have to be tracked in one record. In this sector Gramoni implements and configures Workcube ERP and connects scheduling with WorkPlanner for Workcube, the floor with MES for Workcube, and the warehouse with WAMS Logistics.

In chemical and pharmaceutical production, ERP has to follow the batch, not only keep stock and invoices. For a Turkey-based producer, the typical ERP problems are:

  • Recipe-based production. Finished goods are made from a recipe with fixed ratios, so any change in raw materials has to show up in cost and material requirements straight away.
  • Batches and expiry dates. Raw materials and finished goods move in batches. You need to know where each batch is and when it expires.
  • Filling and packaging lines. The same product is filled into different packs. If output and downtime reach ERP late, stock and the plan fall behind.
  • Regulatory records. In pharmaceuticals, every box's movement is reported to a state system; in chemicals, hazard information travels with the product. Gaps in the record make looking back slow.

The sector at a glance

Chemicals are Turkey's second-largest export sector. The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) reports that chemicals ranked second in 2025 with USD 31.9 billion of exports. The TİM sector table in the December 2025 review by the Mediterranean Exporters' Associations (AKİB) shows chemicals and chemical products made up 13.5% of Turkey's USD 273.4 billion total exports.

In pharmaceuticals, traceability runs through a state system. According to the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK), the Ministry of Health set up the Pharmaceutical Track and Trace System (İTS) in 2010. The two-dimensional code (karekod) printed on every medicine box is used to report the product's entry and exit, and its last seen location, time and status are recorded.

In Europe, manufacturing is a heavy ERP user: Eurostat reports that 57.62% of EU manufacturing enterprises used ERP software in 2025.

What Gramoni offers in this sector

Gramoni works with companies in the chemicals and pharmaceuticals sector. The services and products that fit are:

  • Workcube ERP consulting and implementation. Workcube, a Turkish ERP platform, implemented with its eight-phase methodology; module scope includes finance and accounting, sales and distribution, and materials and production. Each phase has a written output.
  • WorkPlanner for Workcube. Brings production scheduling inside Workcube; the scheduling engine is Novalab's. The result is a Workcube record: plan table, Gantt chart, gross and net material requirements, order coverage.
  • MES for Workcube. For Workcube users who produce by work order and operation, such as filling and packaging, and have or plan a shop-floor MES. It turns production and downtime reports into Workcube production, stock and breakdown records. Today it works with trex Dijital's MES.
  • WAMS Logistics. Barcode shipment checks (EAN, then shelf location, lot and quantity), allocation-based picking, stock counts and warehouse transfers, each written to Workcube's stock records.
  • Wodiba. Brings bank transactions into Workcube and creates records and accounting vouchers for 18 transaction types.
  • AI and automation. Applications whose results go through human approval, such as records created from a photo of a document, or a searchable knowledge base.

What it does not do

MES for Workcube does not provide lot and serial traceability, quality control or OEE. WAMS Logistics does not track serial numbers or handle goods receipt. İTS reporting is not part of these products' definition. Gramoni does not publish customer names, project counts or result figures on this page.

Frequently asked questions

How is ERP different in chemical and pharmaceutical production?

Production follows a recipe and runs in batches, and the batch number and expiry date of raw materials and finished goods must be tracked. In pharmaceuticals, every box's movement is also reported to Turkey's Pharmaceutical Track and Trace System (İTS). ERP has to keep stock, production and sales at that level of detail.

What does WorkPlanner for Workcube do in this sector?

It opens Workcube's BOMs, routings, machines and working calendars to Novalab's scheduling engine, and the schedule comes back to Workcube as work orders, gross and net material requirements and a Gantt chart. It does not do demand forecasting or order promising.

Does MES for Workcube provide batch traceability?

No. MES for Workcube sends work orders to the floor and turns production and downtime reports into Workcube records. Lot and serial traceability, quality control and OEE are outside its scope. It needs a shop-floor MES or data-collection system; today it works with trex Dijital's shop-floor MES.

Can the warehouse check shipments by lot?

With WAMS Logistics, the shipment check runs on a barcode device in the order EAN, shelf location, lot and quantity, and the movement is written to Workcube's stock records. Serial number tracking and goods receipt are out of scope.

Do these products report to İTS?

İTS reporting is not part of the definition of the products on this page. If you need it, it is discussed separately during the Workcube ERP implementation.
